Summary:
Writing Center Consultants willcoach writers on their writing processes and their works in progress anddevelop a variety of strategies for supporting writers.
They willcontinue learning about best practices in tutoring writing via reading WritingCenter scholarship.
Otherduties will include but not be limited to maintaining a welcoming WritingCenter environment and filling out report forms for tutoring appointments.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Cumulative GPAof 3.
0 or better and completion of at least English 1110Z or 1110 or 1120 witha grade of B or higher or the equivalent (such as placement into English 1120).

We seek applicants who are Spanish speakers, including thosewhose original language is Spanish, though this is not a requirement.
Also valued, though not required, in applicants:
successful completion of English 1120 and/orTechnical Writing, or experience with writing in any language that is not theiroriginal language, or interest or experience in any kind of teaching, or facilitywith computer applications such as googledocs, spreadsheets, or Zoom, or otherspecial experience or skills that could be useful in their tutoring of writing.
Required:
Application letter that explains how theapplicant is qualified for the position and what the applicant can offer as awriting tutor; this letter should name two references (current or formerteachers).
Actual reference letters are not required.
Writing sample (for example, a paper from acollege class, at least one page long) Resume.
